Hello!
I currently cover the health insurance industry for Modern Healthcare, an industry publication ranked #1 in readership among health care executives. I’m passionate about journalism, connecting with others and creating content that helps people make informed decisions.
At Modern Healthcare, I cover breaking news and enterprise stories for our online publication. Topics have ranged from health care cybersecurity risks, probes into nursing home operations and companies disrupting the pharmaceutical industry. I also write in-depth feature articles and shorter, light-hearted stories for our magazine. For print, I’ve covered retailers’ push into health care, ways health systems stay compliant with labor laws and health care services moving into old shopping malls. I previously served as general assignment reporter and editorial fellow.
Some of my outside work includes reporting on the increasing incidence of childhood cancer and the presence of guns in schools.
My work has been published with Modern Healthcare, Mother Jones, Triad City Beat, Crain’s Chicago Business, Crain’s Detroit Business, Crain’s Grand Rapids Business, Ad Age, Investigative Reporting Workshop and Public Health Watch.
I earned a M.A. in Journalism and Public Affairs with an investigative specialty from American University. I graduated from Wake Forest University with a B.S. in Health and Exercise Science and two minors in Journalism and Bioethics, Humanities, and Medicine. In my free time, you may find me exploring the trails at Prospect Park, brushing up on my watercolor skills or reading the latest thriller.
